Tough Loss for Such a Strong Season

Bear River’s Lady Bruins varsity water polo team has had quite the season. For the first time in Bear River history, these ladies were first in the SFL league. Every game was tough, but the determination and fight in the players was untouchable. With nine seniors, it was the perfect way to end their last water polo season. However, being first also meant they were qualified for sections. Their first game was November 3rd against Turlock. They had an easy victory of 12-3. This carried them over into the second round of sections. Today, the Lady Bruin’s  season ended in a defeat against Merced, 12-9. The team held their own throughout most of the game but in the end, time was not on their side. Many of the girls will be continuing water polo over the winter and summer through club teams. For Andrea Bock, Nicole Groat, Patti Southworth, Shelby Angus, Natalie Taylor, Rebecca Volek, Beth Nelson, and Cindy Solomon water polo has come to an end. However, they will leave their mark when their SFL championship flag is hung in the Bear River gym in the spring.
