Rita Stevens

Rita Stevens joined KNCO as morning news anchor in 1999. She comes to KNCO following a 20 year career in journalism in the San Francisco Bay Area. She was a news reporter for KRON TV Channel 4 and KPIX, and earlier worked in the newsrooms at KNEW/KSAN radio. Rita is a graduate of San Jose State University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science. Rita says she came to Nevada County to enjoy the rural pace and finds working in a community radio station like KNCO refreshing. Her hobbies include bicycle riding, and quilting.

Toys for Tots is right around the corner

I’m already starting to book interviews for the Marine Corps League Toys for Tots campaign.  The collection barrels will be placed around town before Thanksgiving, and our local chapter of the Marine Corps League, headed by Dave Voors will no doubt again spend hours volunteering to collect the toys and build the bicycles before Christmas eve.   Our community is so generous and I hope they will have enough toys donated this year to give every child on their list a joyous Christmas.

The “Christmas Yam” is a funny commercial that ran for Toys for Tots many years past. I think it is still a classic.
