Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest in Grass Valley

Grass Valley Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle   in the area of Hansen Street and Bank Street about 10:30 Wednesday evening. The driver, 23 year old David Piland of Nevada City was observed to be not wearing a seat belt and Grass Valley Police Captain Rex Marks says a run of his driver’s license determined he had two outstanding misdemeanor warrants from Nevada County. Piland was taken into custody and Captain Marks says a search of the vehicle turned up illicit drugs hidden in some unusual containers.

“We had a cola jar being used to contain the marijuana which was found inside a Taco Bell container that he was in possession of at the time of his arrest as well as an Altoids container that was used to transport hashish.”

The Captain says in the past few weeks Grass Valley Police have uncovered illicit drugs hidden in deodorant, sports water bottles and a can of shaving cream with a false bottom.
