Vegetation Fire Near Homeless Encampment

A vegetation fire was quickly contained between Idaho Maryland and Bennett St, Grass Valley around noon Monday. The 50′ x 50′ foot fire was the second in the area this year amongst the multiple homeless encampments in the area. Last year, the fire department responded to a number of fires in the same area. No damage was reported. The fire was reported as human caused. Evidence of smoking and campfires was present. Nevada County Battalion Chief David Ray reminds everyone this time of year to be extremely careful when dealing with fire and smoking in wooded areas and dry grass.
