The Nevada County Consolidated Veterans Council is hoping people in the community will have some small appliances and other e-waste to drop off at their e-waste collection drive this Saturday. Council President Gary Miller says all the items will be shredded by CEAR and recycled. The shredding prevents others from stealing sensitive information off of old computers and hard drives. Miller says past e-waste events have helped them get started on replacing the windows in the Veterans building.
New windows will also help reduce costs for heating and air conditioning and make the building more comfortable.
Miller says they are also raising funds to support Welcome Home Vets and other service related organizations to assist veterans living in Nevada County.
The Veteran’s e-waste collection drive will be set up in the back parking lot of the Grass Valley Veterans Building from 9am to 1pm this Saturday and they will have workers on hand to unload e-waste from your vehicle.
