Vocal Competition in Honor of Laura June Breen

Laura June Breen was a well loved and respected music teacher in Nevada County and her son and  professional Violinist,  Daniel Zuckerman wanted to set up a memorial  scholarship   in her honor after her death.  Zuckerman  contacted  Sierra Master Chorale and the Laura June Breen Youth Vocal Competition was created last year offering a $500 dollar scholarship to contestants 12 to 21 years of age currently attending a Nevada County school or studying with a Nevada County Music Teacher. Barry Howard Chairs the coordinating committee that set p the competition in Breen’s name.

Eight performers will advance to the competition  at the Center for the Arts in Grass Valley where they will perform 2 numbers with contrasting elements for a total of 7 minutes, and be introduced by Daniel Zuckerman.

Tickets are $10 available at the door for the vocal competition Saturday October 14th at the Center for the Arts beginning at 2p.m
