Wildwood Man Arrested for Attempted Murder

A man was arrested Saturday morning for trying to stab and kill two people after breaking into their home in the 14 thousand block of Lake Wildwood Drive. Daniel Lucas Colondres, 25, is suspected of two counts of attempted murder, home burglary and stalking, Nevada County Sheriff’s Lt. Shannan Moon said.

Colondres allegedly broke into the home around 1:45 a.m. Saturday. The residents awoke to find Colondres armed with a knife. Colondres is accused of attacking the two residents with the knife, causing serious slashing and puncture injuries. A neighbor overheard the attack and tried to stop it. Lt Moon said during the struggle, Colondres was hit on the head with a golf club, and then fled the scene.

Around 9 a.m., deputies and a K9 unit were able to track Colondres to a home on the 14000 block of Nutmeg Court in Lake Wildwood. Moon said Colondres was taken into custody then taken to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital for treatment.

One of the stabbing victims was treated at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital; the other had to be air-lifted to Sutter Roseville Trauma Center for treatment. The names of the victims, a man and a woman, are not being released at this time and no motive as yet has been disclosed.

Colondres, is also on felony probation for possession of narcotics in Tuolome County, and is expected to be charged with 2 counts of attempted murder, burglary and stalking,
