Woman Collides With Logging Truck on Highway 49

A driver not paying attention to the vehicle in front of her ended up going to the hospital after a collision on Southbound Highway 49 last evening.  At about 5:40 pm a Peterbuilt logging truck with an unloaded trailer was slowing on Highway 49 at Young America Mine Road preparing to make a right hand turn. Several car lengths behind, a 65 year old Pleasant Hill woman was driving a 2004 Honda Odyssey and apparently did not notice the truck had slowed to turn.  The driver of the Honda applied the brakes but not in time to avoid the collision into the back of the trailer which resulted in the airbags deploying and major damage to the vehicle.  Both directions of SR-49 were closed for approximately 15 minutes while the woman received medical aid from paramedics on scene.  No alcohol or drugs are suspected to be a factor.
