Woman Hospitalized after Hwy 20 Accident

A Grass Valley woman went to the hospital with moderate injuries after losing control of her vehicle at 11:37am yesterday eastbound on   State Route 20 East of Empire Street.  According to the CHP report the 76 year old female was driving a 2005 GMC envoy in the #2 lane of the highway at a moderate speed and made an unsafe turning movement to the right just as another vehicle was coming up on the right side.  the two cars collided and the driver of the Envoy lost control of the vehicle as it struck the center divider wall, spun around and then accelerated back across the highway and continued up a steep embankment, then rolled in reverse back into the transition lane.  The driver sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Sierra Nevada Memorial hospital by ground ambulance.  The female driver of the 2nd vehicle, a 2000 Dodge Dakota was not injured.   No alcohol or drugs were suspected to be a factor in the collision.
