Young Driver Swerves for a Deer into a Fire Hydrant

A young driver swerved to miss a deer and ended up hitting a fire hydrant and rolling his car, Tuesday morning. CHP Public Information Officer Heather Blancarte said the 19 year old male driver from Grass Valley, tried to miss a deer that had run into the path of his 2003 Trail Blazer on Carrie Drive in Alta Sierra. The driver ran off the road and sheared off a fire hydrant and then rolled the SUV. The driver was very sore from the accident but declined medical treatment. Officer Blancarte is reminding motorist that swerving to miss an animal usually causes further injury or damage to a car.
