Youth Disturbances Down at Thursday Night Events in GV

Grass Valley Police say disturbances by youth are way down during the Thursday Night Markets in downtown Grass Valley now that the youth have more things to do. Captain Rex Marks says the Neo Program that organizes performers and events for younger age people at Thursday Night Market has made a huge difference.

“On South Auburn Street directly across from the police department, the kids are set up in the parking lot and they have a variety of local talent that come together for bands, singing, karaoke events. The kids are there and they are able to socialize with each other, their peers, perform with each other and they’ll engage in dance and other activities as well.”

Capt. Marks says the Neo Program brings youth to a location that is still part of the Thursday Night Market but gives them their own space to engage in their own activities.
