Yuba County Searches for Missing person

The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a Yuba County foothills resident who has been missing since December 16, 2011, according to Sheriff Steven Durfor.

Leslie Scott Jones, 44, of Browns Valley, was last seen leaving his residence on foot at about 2:00 p.m. last Friday.  He was believed to be heading to an unknown location in the city of Marysville.  He is known to frequently hitchhike in the Yuba/Sutter area.  Jones is a white male who stands about 5’9″ and weighs 160 pounds.  He has straight, collar length blonde hair, with a thin mustache and goatee. Lt. Damon Gill with the Yuba co Sheriff’s office says Jones, is not prepared to be out in these temperatures over night.*

“Certainly with the weather the way it is, Mr. Jones, in the past, has been known to go down to or find homeless camps and camp out. And with the weather the way it is right now, he certainly didn’t take any blankets or bedding or anything of that nature with him and we’re extremely worried about his well being because of the cold.”

Anyone with information on Jones or his whereabouts is asked to call the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department at 749-7777.
