1 Billion Rising Events Set for Valentine’s Day

Statistics show that one in three women world-wide will be subjected to domestic violence or sexually assaulted. That high number is not ok;  and on Valentine’s Day the world is standing up against abuse and the mistreatment of women.  Locally, DVSAC Executive Director Gayle Guest-Brown, says the day of love is a great day to make a difference.

One Billion Rising is about standing up to domestic violence.
Locally a number of organizations and individuals will particpate in One Billion Rising events.

So if you want to be part of One Billion Rising, locally you can particpate in Grass Valley. The RISE UP procession starts at the Safeway Parking lot on Neal St at 5:30 and will march to The Center for the Arts for a eception at 6:00 PM. At 7:00 PM there will be stage performances and speakers. From 8:30- 10:00 PM there will a One Billion Rising Dance Party.
