Woman runs from crash

An early morning accident did significant damage to a section of Highway 49 Saturday.  CHP Public Information Officer Marc Morrison says a 31-year-old Grass Valley woman driving a Honda Pilot veered off the road on Highway 49 near Auburn Road.  The car hit a long section of the guard rail along side the road.

The woman fled the scene of the accident and went to her home.  The CHP was able to track the woman quickly as she left her car and license at the accident.  Officer Morrison says when officers found the woman at a near-by home, she was taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence and hit and run. She was booked into the Wayne Brown Correctional facility.
