DUI Suspect Causes Highway 49 Accident

An accident on highway 49 last evening at La Barr meadows Road resulted in  a near head on collision and one man’s arrest for driving under the influence. CHP Officer Marc Morrison says a 72 year old driver was attempting to go from downtown Grass Valley to  Nevada City.  Instead the man got onto Highway 49  heading the opposite direction.

There was a fair amount of damaged to both vehicles and the roadway was blocked for a while.  the 72 year old man who was driving a Honda Ridgeline  was determined to be driving under the influence by officers at the scene.  He was taken to the hospital for treatment of a head laceration prior to booking.  The woman driving the Nissan Sentra  did not require medical treatment.
