Support cancer treatment this September at the 18th annual Celebration of Life Triathlon in Cascade Shores at Scott’s Flat Lake in Nevada City. The triathlon pays tribute to the life of Barbara Schmidt Millar, who died of cancer in 1995.
Triathlon director Nancy Avilla says the race starts with a half-mile swim across Scott’s Flat Lake, followed by an 11-mile bike ride and a three mile run. Avilla says the triathlon raises money that directly benefits local women.
96 thousand dollars in scholarships have been awarded to girls graduating high school since 1999. To register, it coasts 45 dollars per runner and 25 dollars per walker. Race participants will need to arrive at seven a.m. on race day, Sunday, September 16th. The race will start at nine a.m. For more information, go online to bsmtri.org
