2 Million in Gold and Gems Stolen from Mariposa Museum

Authorities in Mariposa County are trying to track down the thieves who robbed the California State Mining and Mineral Museum Friday afternoon just after 4:00 PM.  Robbers wearing masks and goggles got away with about two-million dollars in gold and precious gems from the museum located at the Mariposa Fairgrounds.  The armed robbers threatened museum staff, but no one was injured.
CHP Central Division Officer Matt Redke explains how the suspects moved through the Museum which was open to the public at the time of the robbery.

Authorities are seeking assistance from the public. Because the gold and gems are unique, it will be difficult for the thieves to sell.
