200 Attend Jim Rogers Memorial Bike Ride

The 5th  annual Jim Rogers Memorial Ride on Sunday  drew nearly 200 bicycle riders together to   remember the local man who in 2010 was killed on Highway 174   by a distracted driver  who was allegedly using her cell phone at the time of the accident.        Rogers’ widow, Carolyn Jones-Rogers and family friend Karen Wallack-Eisen were at the starting line when all of the bicycle riders raised their hands to take an oath.

The youngest rider of the group was 6 year old  Nathan  who finished with his dad Terry Hundemer to a cheering crowd.   Rogers-Ride

Terry was good friends with Jim Rogers and he says  together they rekindled the Sierra Express Bike Racing team.

The 5th annual Jim Rogers Memorial Ride  raised about $500  to support Youth Bicyclists of Nevada County and the NU Mountain Biking Team.
