Anew Day Executive Director Lori Nunnink-Taylor says they organized the event as a fundraiser for Anew Day which provides healing and hope for those who are hurting, and also as a way to give back to the community.

Most of the services Anew Day  provides are free of charge. The RAKE event raised $12,000 for the counseling center from the entry fees paid by participants. After the clean-up, the volunteers all got to get together for a barbecue at A New Place, the organizations new thrift store at 745 So. Auburn Street.
