The annual Draft Horse Classic gets underway today at the Nevada County Fairgrounds, with over 120 of the gentle giants stabled on the grounds this year. The Classic spotlights a variety of teams and competitions, and Fairgrounds C-E-O Rea Callender says seeing these animals up close is really the best part…
In between the performance classes, there are specialty acts. The four-day run also features a Harvest Fair, with lots of food, entertainment, and shopping opportunities….
There are two free concerts this year–a tribute to Johnny Cash tomorrow night, and a Jason Aldean tribute band on Saturday. There is no charge for admission to the Draft Horse Classic, but you do have to pay for parking. You can also ride the bus for free–Gold Country Transit is having ‘Free Fare Days’ today, tomorrow, and Saturday.
