3rd Graders attend InConcert Sierra Program for Youth

Third graders in Nevada County Schools got a special treat on Monday. They  were bused to attend  a concert by Ten-Thing, the Norwegian all-female 10 piece brass ensemble, that was in town for an In Concert Sierra Concert Sunday afternoon, and stayed over to do another performance specifically for the students.. Ken Hardin is the Artistic Director of In Concert Sierra and says the youth program is something they are able to do because of the generosity of local underwriters. And the local teachers also love it.

The Brass Ensemble will play pieces from the Opera, Carmen,  and Harden says the music will likely be somewhat familiar to the students.

Harden says they selected 3rd graders for the concert because that is the age when students can choose to be in Band or Orchestra and the performances help them decide which instrument they would be interested in learning how to play.
