4th of July Fire Danger

Independence day is Wednesday and for many fireworks are sinonomis with the holiday. Nevada County Fire Marshall Terry MacMahan wants to remind residence that fireworks are illegal, even the so called safe and sane verieties that can be purchased from outside the area are not permitted. Macmahan says fireworks are permitted in Nevada City with a couple of exceptions.

Consolidated Fire Captain Kevin Menet says the best way to enjoy fireworks on the 4th is at our local professional dispalys.

The gates at the fairgrounds will open at 3pm after the parade in Nevada city. There is an $8 dollar entry fee. Food vendors will be on hand, and awards will be given for parade entrents, a variety of entertainment will provided until the fireworks display just after dark.
