5 Elly Awards For Nevada County Theatre Groups

It was a good night for Nevada County productions at the Elly Awards in Sacramento on Sunday, with 5 awards received out of 15 nominations for the 2016-2017 season. Quest Theaterworks got 4 of the awards, in the drama category. “Zoo Story” got best overall production, with Chase Coney awarded for Leading Male. And “Good Body” got the other 2, with Sharon Winegar getting the best director award and Lois Ewing honored for Leading Female. The fifth Elly went to Sharon Sciabica for costume design for Legacy Presents’ “Scrooge”, a musical treatment of “A Christmas Carol”…

The lit up costume was in reference to the Ghost of Christmas Past. And Sciabica says “Scrooge” will be back on stage for the upcoming holiday season. There were a total of 420 nominations this year from the Sacramento Area Regional Theatre Alliance, with “Scrooge” getting four nominations.
