Cal Fire says they’re making good progress on a fire burning near Foresthill in Placer County. The “Robbers Fire” that broke out yesterday afternoon had already burned 220 acres and was 20 percent contained. Evacuation centers have been set up at the Veterans Memorial Hall’s in Foresthill and Colfax. The Colfax center was closed because no one was staying there last evening… Red Cross Worker Henry Santos-Coy is at the shelter set up in Foresthill where she says there are quite a few evacuees spending the night in their cars because they don’t want to leave their animals.

Officials say the fire has the potential to grow because of the extremely hot temperatures and dry conditions. CAL Fire is right now in the morning briefing and at 9am we are expecting an update on the size and scope of the fire today. The fire is between Foresthill and Colfax burning towards Iowa Hill.
The Placer County Sheriff’s Office issued an evacuation order for residents in the Kings Hill Road and Bushy Bear Ridge areas that remained in effect at 9 p.m. Wednesday. The Sheriff’s Office also made an emergency broadcast notice for residents within a one-mile radius of Iowa Hill to be ready to evacuate Wednesday evening.
The fire was reported at 3:43 p.m. Wednesday,
Peardale/Chicago Park Fire, Nevada County Consolidated, Higgins Fire and Nevada City Fire are among agencies assisting in fighting the fire.
Tankers, helicopters and other resources are on scene.
