County Ahead of State with Kids Vaccines

Nevada County is off to a good start with vaccinating younger children. Following the second dose being delivered to over 300 children at the county clinic on Tuesday, Public Health is stating over 12 percent of eligible 5-11 year old children have already received the vaccine. Currently the state average is at 8 percent. County Public Health Director Jill Blake says the second day was another celebration, even though it required a shot in the arm.

Along with the entertainment, Blake says one of the best parts was watching parents and children immediately following getting the shot.

A special add-on was children receiving a superhero cape and mask.

Blake also gave a shout out to community members that stood out on the sidewalk for hours cheering and welcoming the children and their parents as they arrived at the clinic.
