It was a perfect Fall morning for the perfect Fall event…which has become a Thanksgiving tradition for many people… The 9th Annual Mike Bratton II Turkey Trot. The 5 and 10K Run and Walk benefits the MEB2 Foundation which helps fund Anew Day Counseling Center and a number of other services and programs in Western Nevada County. Mike Bratton Senior was excited as the start of the event grew close.

The Turkey Trot started nine years ago in memory of Mike Bratton II, who unexpectedly took his own life, the result of struggling with depression. The run was always something Mike wanted to do to support Nevada Union High School- the Bratton Family chose to organize the Trot in his memory to fight the mental illness that led him to suicide. This year the Turkey Trot is generating 10’s of thousands of dollars to support Anew Day and many high school programs.
