Yesterday afternoon at 4:17 an emergency call was received of a woman who had suffered a fall at Mother’s Beach upstream from Purdon Crossing. Nevada County Consolidated Battalion Chief Jerry Funk says Battalion 2 and Rescue 84 responded along with State Parks and the North San Juan Fire Department.

The CHP Helicopter was utilized  to hoist the patient out of the river canyon and the woman was flown to Sutter Roseville Hospital with moderate injuries.
An infant injured in a fall at Bridgeport a short time earlier was also airlifted for medical treatment.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.  Chief Funk says this fire is a good reminder for homeowners to clear defensible space around their home, s including  keeping firewood piles a safe distance from your house.
