A Chance to Help Fulfill a Wish

A Grass Valley young man wants to provide his stepfather with a special experience while he still has the chance, and is seeking assistance from county residents. Long time Grass Valley resident, Dan Stafford has been battling kidney failure for twenty years and recently developed an aggressive cancer as a result of 17 years of dialysis treatment. Stafford’s stepson, Jesse Downer, is trying to help Dan with a final request.

Stafford’s wife Vicki has taken a lot of time off from work to support Dan during treatment and as a result the family is experiencing some financial challenges. Jesse is holding a spaghetti feed to help raise funds to grant his stepfather’s wish and also support his step mom.

Born and raised in Grass Valley, Stafford graduated from Nevada Union and has worked at local businesses including Big O Tires, Fischer Towing and the 16-to-1 Gold Mine prior to becoming to ill to work. Jesse says his step parents have always been willing to help out others and is happy the community is stepping up to help in turn.

The Spaghetti Feed at the Rough and Ready Grange next to the Fire Station is Saturday April 20 from 12 noon to 5 PM so its perfect for lunch or dinner. A donation of 10 dollars is requested and there will also be a raffle. For more information please call 263-9746
