A Day Off!

What a crazy week it has been.  The good news is it’s Friday and for most of us here at KNCO it’s a three day weekend.  Not everyone is as lucky as I am.

The Broad-casters Build team is giving up their Saturday for the big Community Yard Sale to benefit Habitat for Humanity.  They are hoping to raise $5000 to help build a home for someone right here in Nevada County.  Everyone was asked to bring in anything they had to add to the KNCO sales table.  I hate to say my wife & I racked our brains and searched high and low to find something in vain.  When we moved 2 years ago we truly did a complete house cleaning/de-drapification.  The house we sold was located near the landfill and we took full advantage of it’s proximity. We unloaded probably 3 pick up loads of accumulated stuff.  Stuff that would have been perfect for this event I am sorry to say.  In any event I encourage you to come down and see what’s available.  We already have better than a dozen booths rented so there will be a great variety for you to peruse.

Tom & Rita will be doing the morning news Monday, and the noon news as well!  Thanks guys!  That allows both Mary & I a day off!  Sorry, No Swap Shop on Monday! But you do get a bonus Kim Komando!

My big question, why does it take 5 days of working ahead to enjoy a day off?  Shouldn’t it take just a couple of hours from each of us to cover those hours off?  I was never really good at math.

So come Monday (with all apologies to Jimmy Buffett) I’ll be feeling alright.  There are a number of Memorial day services in our area, I will try to make it to one of those as my way to honor the sacrifices made for all our freedom.   But as a faithful reader of my ramblings you already know how I feel about Memorial Day.  I hope you have a wonderful weekend and take at least a minute to think about the reason for the holiday.
