Two Grass Valley residents have been arrested on suspicion of a number of burglaries and mail thefts all over Nevada County, including a man with a long local criminal history. Sheriff’s Lieutenant Steve Tripp says it started, Monday morning, with an anonymous call to the department about a driver of a suspicious car that had been seen in his neighborhood where such crimes had been occurring…
Tripp says deputies found Packard and a passenger, 27-year-old Rena Kain, parked in the suspect car on the side of Lode Star Road near Brewer Road. It was soon after determined that the car could be searched, under probation terms for Packard…
Tripp speculates that the anonymous caller might have been a neighbor of an area that had been victimized and could have been the one following the suspect car. This is also Packard’s third arrest in the last ten months, with prior charges related to burglary, vehicle theft, and weapons and drug possession.
