Ertola says P-R-C-S or Post Release Community Supervision is where offenders who were in state prison before and were released to parole prior to 2011 are now released to local county probation departments and housed in county jails. Under split sentencing offenders can serve part of their sentence in county jail, then are released to supervison by probation and are allowed services and treatment as needed. Nevada County has received 160 AB 109 offenders between 2011 and today. And the current AB 109 population is 60, 55 of those are males and 5 are females, the average age is 37.39 years which pretty much has remained consistent.

Jobs training is also a big component of the program and Ertola says Probation works with Nevada Union Adult Education, The Alliance for Workforce Development and Sierra College among others, and will be working with Northern California Construction Training next year to teach and train offenders in the construction trade.
