Accident Kills 85-Year-Old Nevada City Man

An 85-year-old Nevada City man has been killed in a solo vehicle accident. CHP Officer Greg Tassone says the man was travelling at a high rate of speed eastbound on Highway 49, early Friday afternoon, in his SUV, approaching Gold Flat Road. He says a Cal Fire Chief who was driving in the same direction also happened to witness what was happening…

Tassone says the man went down a steep embankment onto a nursery property and struck a large tree, with the vehicle also catching on fire…

Tassone says the name of the man has not being released, pending notification of next of kin.  A few days earlier, an 89-year-old Nevada City man was seriously injured in solo vehicle crash.
