Accident Northbound 49 at Alta Sierra Thursday Afternoon

A little before 3:00 PM Thursday, fire units and CHP quickly responded to a call of a vehicle accident and fire on Northbound Highway 49 near the intersection of Alta Sierra Drive. Consolidated Fire Engine 88 arrived at scene to find an apparent rear end collision involving a pickup truck with major front end damage and a truck and travel trailer with moderate damage to the rear. The pickup truck was fully involved in fire upon arrival. The fire was quickly extinguished and contained to the pickup.
CHP Officer Greg Tassone say they were receiving calls about one of the vehicles involved in the accident.

The driver of the pickup was transported for evaluation before being booked into Wayne Brown Correctional Facility.
The two passengers in the travel trailer were not transported.
CHP was on scene until approximately 4:20 as traffic on north-bound 49 was delayed for approximately 1 hour.
