Accident on 49 Snarls Traffic Near Dorsey Drive Construction

One woman was injured in an afternoon collision of Highway 49 near Dorsey Drive, Tuesday afternoon. CHP Officer Justin Barnthouse says CHP,fire fighters and ambulances responded to a two car collision that blocked both lanes. A 35 year old woman driving a 2003 Honda Pilot and a 43 year old woman driving a 2000 Honda Civic collided in the construction area on the highway. While the north bound lanes were blocked traffic was diverted onto Idaho Maryland Road.  Coincidentally, Officer Barnthouse says he was holding a small infant that would have been in one of the cars involved.

The driver of the Honda civic was taken to Sierra Nevada Hospital for treatment of non life threatening injures. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
