Advocates Continue to Lobby County for Shelter

A homeless advocacy group continues to ask the County for land so that they can build a homeless shelter. Janice O’Brien is the Executive Director for Sierra Roots, and spoke before the Board of Supervisors at their meeting this morning (Tuesday). O’ Brien was also in studio here at KNCO this afternoon, and says she continues to push the board to talk about it…

O’Brien spoke to the board during their public comment period, and because of that, board members were not allowed to respond. O’Brien says there are places that can shelter the homeless temporarily, but are not always reliable for many reasons…

O’Brien hopes her issue will be placed on the agenda for a future Supervisors meeting soon, but also says her group is making progress.
