Efforts to build a long-discussed affordable housing project in Nevada City have perhaps taken the final step toward construction. Nevada County Housing Director Mike Dent says the recent uncertainty about tax credit funding has been cleared, with the award of nearly 26-million dollars, through the State Treasurer’s Office, for what’s known as the Cashin’s Field project…
Dent says if the allocation hadn’t been reconsidered, developers would have had to wait until next March to try again. He says the project, on Ridge Road, features 51 mostly two and three-bedroom units, to accomodate more workforce families…
The developers are the Regional Housing Authority and the Affordable Housing Development Corporation. Dent says they’ll have up to six months to secure the financing. When actual construction could begin is not known yet, but he says the earliest would be next summer.
