With fairly minor population growth numbers in the last decade, there will, once again, be no dramatic redistricting of Nevada County’s five Supervisorial Districts. But there will be some shifting of residents. Speaking to the Board of Supervisors at the Tuesday meeting, Chief Information Officer, Steve Monaghan, presented four options for redrawing district lines. The population deviation can’t be more than 10-percent between the smallest and and largest district. The Board indicated support for two options. Option One moves the Lake Vera community into District One, from District Five. The Loma Rica Business Park would move into District Three from District One. Option Four would modify Option One to equalize population, by moving Alison Ranch to District Two, from District Three. Another public hearing is set for next Tuesday. The final remapping is scheduled for December 9th, with the Board expected to make a decision at its December 14th meeting. That’s a day before the redistricting must be completed, by law.
