A background in banking and an interest in natural resources helped spur Alta Sierra area resident Guy Tortorici to run in the Nov. 6 election for a seat on the board of directors for the Nevada Irrigation District in Grass Valley. Tortorici recalls Northern California in the 1970’s.
Tortorici says the transfer next year of hydroelectric power revenues to NID from Pacific Gas & Electric is among key issues the water district faces.
Dr. Scott Miller of rural Grass Valley is the director who represents District 3 on the board. Miller has indicated he will seek re-election.
