Amendment Keeps U-2 Aircraft in Service at Beale AFB

The U-2 aircraft flown out of and maintained at Beale Air Force Base will stay in flight for at least one more year. Congressman Doug LaMalfa offered an amendment to support the U-2 aircraft in the Fiscal Year 2017 National Defense Authorization Act which was unanimously approved by the House of Representatives. LaMalfa says the amendment will prohibit the Air Force from retiring the U-2 for at least one year.

LaMalfa says the U-2 offers unparalleled capabilities and his amendment will ensure the air force can continue to fulfill it’s high altitude intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance mission.
