American Fire 35% Contained

The American Fire Burning about 17 miles northeast of Foresthill in the rugged timber of the Tahoe National Forest has grown in  size but also in containment. Mark Brown is a fire information officer for the Tahoe National Forest.

Overnight fire crews were able to prepare the line for defensive firing operations along the north end of Deadwood road. and extra precautions have been taken to protect the historic old mining town of Last Chance.

What’s not going to change is the smoke drifiting our way from the fire.

The heavy smokegenerated by the fire  is expected to continue blowing our way for the next several days with only slight lifting in the afternoons.
