Anderson Becomes Mayor on New-Look Council

Nevada City has a new mayor, and a restructured City Council. Vice-Mayor Terri Anderson assumed the top post last night, and will serve as mayor for the next year. Anderson says one of her goals as city leader is to iron out some of the conflicts surrounding certain city events…

Outdoor lighting, street closures, and whether certain events reflect the city’s historical image have been issues, and ordinances to set some sort of standard are still pending. Duane Strawser, who was just re-elected to the Council, and City Treasurer David McKay also took their oaths of office. The Council elected Jennifer Ray as Vice-Mayor, even though she wasn’t present at the meeting.
