Animal Abuse Investigation Underway

Authorities have rescued several horses after finding one dead horse and another in such bad medical shape that had to be euthanized. Nevada County Sheriff’s  Sergeant Sam Brown says Animal Control Officers were called to check the welfare of several horses on Auburn Road, on Saturday. When Officers arrived they found one horse dead and another horse in such bad medical shape it had to be put down. With the assistance of  Sheriff’s deputies and  fire fighters several horses were removed from the property.

Sergeant Brown the case is still under investigation. Investigators and animal control officer are still on scene trying to determine if more of the horses should be removed for their safety. Investigators will be contacting the property owner in a attempt to determine who actually owns the horses.
