Annual Freedom Run Supports NU Running Programs

The Fourth of July celebration began with a blast from an air-horn for 150 runners ta Nevada Union High School. The 9th Annual Freedom Run 5k took aff at 8:00 AM. Race Director Frank Castro-Weir says the run is a benefit for the running programs for the high school.

Castro-Wier was hoping to get close to 150 runners and says he was a bit worried the three day holiday weekend might impact participation.

Proceeds from the run go to offset cost for entry fees and travel for the cross country team and to help purchase equipment for the track and field programs. Castro-Weir is hoping to raise between 1500 and 2000 dollars from the Freedom Run.
