Another housing project is moving closer to reality in Nevada City. The Planning Commission has approved what’s called “The Bungalows”, on Searls Avenue, and sent it to the City Council next month for final consideration. City Planner Amy Wolfson says it’s six townhouses, on just under an acre, with a common courtyard and parking area. Each unit would be 1,300 square feet with a 128-square-foot private porch. Earlier this year, the Planning Commission approved “The Grove”, another so-called “affordable by design” project, with 71 units on 13 acres on Providence Mine Road, proposed by Nevada City Tech Center. Wolfson says there is no construction timetable established for either project yet.
