Another Phone SCAM Hits County

Another phone scam hitting Nevada County- this time the caller says he is a lieutenant with the Sheriff’s Office. Nevada County Sheriff Keith Royal tells KNCO that the caller informs potential victims of a missed a Grand Jury appointment.

The caller then tells the victim to purchase Green DOT money cards in order to pay the fine.

Sheriff Royal reminds citizens that it is a scam and his office does not do business in this manner.

The potential victim did not fall prey to the scam and reported the incident immediately.
