Another Phone Scam Targeting The Elderly

An old phone scam targeting the elderly has resurfaced and is costing victims thousands of dollars. Auburn Police Sgt Dale Hutchins says that two Auburn residents were victimized this week.

The caller states that the money needs to be in cash and sent to an out-of-state address. Unfortunately the victims did not realize that they were part of a scam until after the money had been sent.
The incidents are still under investigation but there is little to no chance that any money will be recovered.
Sgt. Hutchins says that if you receive any type of call requesting you send money, you should contact law enforcement immediately. Do not send any money.
