Anthem Raises Rates For Second Time This Year

For the second time in just over a month, Anthem Blue Cross has raised their health insurance rates. On January first, rates went up for small businesses. Today (Friday), the increase is for individuals–those who do not get their insurance through their employers. Anthem spokesman Darrell Ng says the increase reflects the health insurance market…

But Carmen Balber with the group ‘Consumer Watchdog’ says Anthem made 2.7 billion dollars in net profits last year…

It’s estimated that the increase affects about 730-thousand Californians.
