Applications are due today to be the first recipients of grants from the Nevada County Relief Fund. The fund, created last month with 100-thousand dollars of seed money from the county, now has more than matched that total, and will be awarding grants to local businesses and non-profits. Kelly says there have been about 90 applications so far for about 20 grants for a total of a hundred thousand dollars. Another hundred-thousand will be granted to select non-profits. Julie Baker is doing a lot of fundraising, and says the goal is to have the first round of grants awarded by June 1…
The website is nevco-relief dot-org (nevcorelief.org) You can apply for a grant there, and also donate to the fund. Applications must be received by 5pm. Currently the balance of the fund is over 275-thousand dollars. When it reaches 300-thousand, there will be another round of grants.
