A longtime school superintendent/principal in Grass Valley has been appointed to fill out the remainder of Holly Hermansen’s term as Nevada County’s Education Superintendent. Scott Lay says having similar experience at Clear Creek School for 17 years will help him adjust to his new job…
Hermansen is retiring on July 31st. And Lay also hopes to keep the job even longer. He’s already decided to run for election for a full 4-year term, in June of 2018…
Lay says his goals will not be that much different from Hermansen’s. That includes seeking more special education funding and trying to improve the longtime declining enrollment in the county. In a news release, Board of Education President Larry Meek says it was an extremely difficult decision because they had three very well-qualified candidates.
