Are You Smarter Than A 7th Grader?

Some of Nevada County’s smartest seventh graders competed in the Nevada County Geography Tournament Tuesday. The 13th annual event modeled after the National Geographic Society format, was coordinated by the Nevada County Superintendent of Schools Office.
Part one of the competition involved student teams of three, completing a 105-question written test.
Seven Hills took first place
Lyman Gilmore finished in second place and
Magnolia took third place.

Individual student competition took place “Jeopardy” style as one student from each team matched their wits and knowledge of Geography. The first place trophy went to
Gavin Olsen of Forest Charter School.
Gracie Suenram of Lyman Gilmore School was 2nd and
Ivy McLeod of Chicago Park School finished third
The event was sponsored by Soroptimists International of the Sierra Foothills and David McGlocklin of Nystrom Maps.
The tournament is . The county superintendent of schools office launched the geography tournament to develop interest in the subject of geography.
